Yesterday the Vaughan team headed to the Property Industry Foundation’s Bonbeach Lighthouse home to complete a working bee.
The working bee focused on making the garden more manageable by removing invasive grass from garden beds, weeding, removing unruly plants and laying some topsoil and pathway toppings. The garden is now ready for the next team to come in and add the garden beds and plants.
The Property Industry Foundation raises much-needed funds to provide housing for homeless youths. Bonbeach Lighthouse is a 6-bedroom home that the Property Industry Foundation has built to house youths in need and is run by the Lighthouse Foundation.
Youth homelessness affects 44,000 young Australians and every night 1 in 3 young people are turned away from accommodation.
°®¶¹´«Ã½lessness is one of the most severe forms of disadvantage and social exclusion that any young person can experience.
Major triggers for young people becoming homeless include family violence, relationship breakdowns, alcohol and drug use.
These facts are a devastating hard truth.
Vaughan is a proud National Sponsor of the Property Industry Foundation, and we are pleased to support the foundation where we can.
A big thank you to Kate Nicolas for all her hard work organising this event, to Kyle Green for organising the tools, and to the Vaughan team members who participated in the working bee.
