Brighton Grammar School’s The Duigan Centre is now complete. This world-class facility, dedicated to science, creativity, and entrepreneurship, marks another milestone in Vaughan’s ongoing partnership with the school.
A collaboration between Brighton Grammar School, St Andrew’s Parish, and the Diocese of Melbourne, The Duigan Centre embodies the school’s commitment to shaping the future success of its students while strengthening its connection with St Andrew’s. Located on the secondary school campus, this 11,930m² multi-level precinct offers innovative and dynamic learning spaces designed to inspire creativity and foster academic excellence.
Upon entering The Duigan Centre, students and visitors are welcomed by a striking open space that reflects the school’s forward-thinking approach to education. This dynamic thoroughfare offers clear visibility through glass windows, enhancing the sense of openness and connection throughout the centre. A Learning Lane leads to an expansive café that doubles as a collaborative learning hub, with open-plan seating areas designed for informal study and discussion.
The facility also features purpose-built spaces, including multi-purpose areas for building and testing robotics and mechanical prototypes, a specialist studio for visual arts, printmaking, and digital artworks, and three general-purpose studios and laboratories for psychology, chemistry, physics, and biology. Informal breakout spaces and display areas encourage collaboration, while dedicated staff offices, storage, and lab tech spaces support the learning facilities.
The building also includes a basement carpark, a covered walkway, and a landscaped garden that seamlessly connects to St Andrew’s Church. Sitting atop the building, are three tennis courts (works by Grassports) and accompanying facilities, providing additional outdoor space with elevated views.
Vaughan Constructions worked closely with project managers Ontoit and award-winning design firm Architectus to bring this vision to life. Reflecting on the project, our General Manager VIC Lorien Dalmau shared, “We are proud to have delivered an exceptional education facility that will inspire generations of students. The Duigan Centre is a testament to Brighton Grammar School’s dedication to innovative learning, and we are honoured to have played a role in bringing this vision to reality.”
Brighton Grammar School is a learning community that is passionate about developing, inspiring, and guiding students on their journey into adulthood. Vaughan Constructions is delighted to have contributed to a facility that will support and enhance that journey for years to come.
